On December 16, 2024, the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, organized the 2024 Annual Student Symposium at the AN1-202 conference room, Phayathai Campus. This symposium served as a platform for students and lecturers to exchange insights and explore significant issues in anatomical science.

The event began with a registration session from 8:30 to 9:00 AM, followed by opening remarks from Assoc. Prof. Krai Meemon, Program Director (Doctoral Program). His speech emphasized the importance of fostering knowledge-sharing opportunities within the academic community.

The symposium featured presentations by five graduate students, moderated effectively by Mr. Chanathip Kamonnat for the morning sessions (9:15–10:45 AM).

Mr. Natthakit Sawang-arom moderated the later sessions (10:55 AM onwards). Their contributions ensured the event proceeded smoothly and efficiently.

From 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM, Ms. Sukanya Saedan, a Ph.D. candidate, presented her study on “Histomorphology analysis and differential gene expression in the digestive system of the Pacific white leg shrimp, Penaeus vannamei”. Her presentation explored the structural and genetic changes in shrimp’s digestive systems, providing valuable insights into aquaculture research.

From 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM, Mr. Natthakit Sawang-arom, an M.Sc. candidate, presented his study on “The role of Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA (ADAR) in regulating innate immunity in Penaeus vannamei during White Spot Syndrome virus infection”. He discussed the critical role of ADAR enzymes in enhancing shrimp immunity against viral infections.

From 10:15 AM to 10:45 AM, Ms. Kornchanok Jaiboon, an M.Sc. candidate, presented her study on “The putative role of Macrobrachium rosenbergii CHIH I in perceiving pheromone signal from molt”. She discussed the implications of her findings on understanding crustacean communication and behavior.

From 10:55 AM to 11:25 AM, Mr. Chanathip Kamonnat, an M.Sc. candidate, presented his study on “Anti-Alzheimer’s effects of Holothuria leucospilota hexane extract in Caenorhabditis elegans model of alzheimer’s disease”. He highlighted the neuroprotective potential of marine-derived extracts in combating Alzheimer’s disease.

From 11:25 AM to 11:55 AM, Ms. Napawan Taradolpisut, an M.Sc. candidate, presented her study on  INVESTIGATING AMMONIUM NITRATE-MODIFIED THIEL’S SOLUTIONS FOR CADAVER PRESERVATION“. Her research aimed to improve cadaver preservation methods.

The presenters shared research findings on various topics within anatomical sciences. The event was attended by master’s and Ph.D. students, whose contributions to the discussions demonstrated their enthusiasm for learning and academic research.

Following each presentation, a Q&A session allowed participants to ask questions and exchange ideas, enhancing interaction and discussion.

Assoc. Prof. Somluk Asuvapongpatana, Head of the Department of Anatomy, along with Assoc. Prof. Wattana Weerachatyanukul, Deputy Dean for Educational Innovation and Salaya Campus, participated in the event. Together with other faculty members, they highlighted the department’s dedication to promoting academic excellence and supporting research efforts.

Gratitude is extended to Asst. Prof. Morakot Sroyraya, Program Secretary (Doctoral Degree), for overseeing the symposium. Their support and participation emphasized the event’s value to the academic community.
